Focal High Fidelity Speakers

Experience the Focal sound – Stereo and Home Cinema solutions offering outstanding listening quality and design.

Since 1979, Focal has been designing audio systems at its Saint-Etienne workshops, in the Loire department of eastern-central France. Specialising in Hi-Fi speakers for the home, home cinema systems. Focal is recognized worldwide for its acoustic expertise, exclusive technologies and constant innovation.

INNOVATION AND DESIGN IS THE HEART OF OUR DNA

Jacques Mahul, founder of Focal, has always been committed to faithfully reproducing music as the artist imagined. That's why Focal has always prioritised R&D into its loudspeakers, materials, and processes to improve sound reproduction. Acoustic quality is our vocation, and hi-fi loudspeakers the heart of our business. From the studio to the home, Focal is setting new a new benchmark in performance and design.

STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENT

Our acoustic engineers carry out all product design, development, and engineering. Cutting-edge technology requires cutting-edge equipment: the latest CAD software, an automotive laboratory, dedicated machines, and production lines.

At Focal, one commitment is particularly dear to our hearts: every loudspeaker leaving our French workshops is carefully tested by computer and by ear. How else can you be sure of reliability and rendering quality?

FOCAL DESIGN

Focal has been a pioneer in the world of acoustics and has been responsible for many groundbreaking events. The Utopia collections are a testament to their excellence and represent the ultimate in acoustics. The first Grande Utopia loudspeaker, introduced in 1995, created a sensation and set new standards in research, innovation, technical expertise, and performance.

Since then, a whole generation of Utopia products has been released: Utopia headphones, Utopia-integrated loudspeakers, and the Utopia M car kit.

LOUDSPEAKERS: THE SCIENCE BEHIND THEM

This quest for perfection has given rise to loudspeakers and technologies, some of which have become world references. These include the Beryllium tweeter, the Flax sandwich cone featuring flax fibre from Normandy, the K2 cone in aramid fibre, the "M" profile and the Slatefiber cone in recycled carbon, among many others: all exclusive innovations. We cultivate the rigor, inventiveness and precision that lead us to excellence.

"M" DOME BERYLLIUM SPEAKERS

Unparalleled purity and realism

Experts in high-fidelity loudspeakers, Focal engineers have applied their know-how to headphones. The patented full-range speaker drivers are open-back, M-shaped and made of pure Beryllium. They operate without active or passive correction, from 5 Hz to over 50 kHz: the headphones disappear completely, and the reproduction of the audio signal is of unrivalled purity, realism and transparency. As part of the perfect design, the grilles are also M-shaped to follow the shape of the loudspeakers perfectly while providing better linearity in the treble.

TAM TWEETER

Wide diffusion angle

Membrane shape and materials are essential for high-fidelity reproduction. Focal engineers have designed the TAM tweeter. Manufactured in our workshops in France, it boasts a number of advantages, particularly in terms of wide-angle diffusion. Comprising an aluminium/magnesium inverted dome cone with an "M" profile for even greater rigidity, it delivers flawless harmonic balance and detailed treble. The presence of a decompression chamber limits disturbances caused by rear waves, for even greater sonic clarity.

TMD SUSPENSION

Stabilised surround eliminates vibrations.

While our engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilise the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behaviour of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.
